Description

Hypothesis: The basis of investigation
Hypothesis: The smart guess

1. Identify the Problem

We have some samples of water. One is from the tap. Tap Water
The other is from a balanced eco system with fish and plants.
Balance Eco System

We have two sources of water and fish live happily in the pond.

2. Hypothesis

We can form an hypothesis by making a statement.

The statement is a smart guess.

We might guess that as the fish appear healthy drinking the water, so humans must also be able to drink the water.

The hypothesis could be.
The water is safe to drink!

3. Planning the Experiment

Variables
May be changing temperature. Taking samples from different places in the pond. Different fish foods. Different times in the day.
Experiments should be conducted in a way that objectively proves the variable is not affecting the experiment.

Information Observation Recording Data
What data/information are we collecting?
How are we going to record the information?

4. Equipment

Equipment
Gather equipment to conduct the experiment.
For this experiment we will use a home made laser microscope with a white board.
A small sample of tap water.
A small sample of water from a fish pond.

5. Analysing and Interpreting

Analyse and Interpret
Explain the information and what does it mean in an objective and logical way.

6. Conclusion

Make a statement. Is the hypothesis true of false.
A conclusion should be based of the information and data gathered from the experiment.
Be Objective.

7. Write the Report

Present the Aim, Materials, Apparatus and Procedures.
Present any data graphs or information
Based on the information gathered make your own conclusion.
Be Objective.
