    When the people you are with are less important

    For most cultures it is rude to answer the phone in the company of others.
    When your friends are not important.
    Many adults will leave early and visit rarely if they are not considered important enough.

    Phone Usage

    P1 'Let's go to Janes place'.
    P2 'Naa she's boring! She is always on the phone'.

    BEST SOLUTION: Switch phone off or to silent when with friends.

    Text in meetings
    In most businesses this will get you fired. (lose your job)
    BEST OPTION: Switch you phone off.  Put it on silent if you are an emergency worker.
    If you are an emergency worker, ask your boss if you can leave the room and explain why you should reply to a text or call. Do not stay in the room to reply.

    One way conversations

    Are very distracting to any one in hearing distance. It is recommended  to leave the room and be at least 3m from any doorway

    One sided conversations

    Phones on the table

    Phones should be kept out of site but when some groups are out to dinner all phones are placed on the table. The first phone to ring has to pay for the meal.

    BEST SOLUTION: When out with friends switch your phone off.

    The main issue is 'One sided conversations' are distracting and annoying to listen to. I have turned around to answer someone a thousand times to find they were not talking to me but to their phone.
