The area of the country in square kilometers (km2)The area or size of the country must be compared to Thailand so everyone has a reference point to help them visualize the size.Currency.
Currency must be compared to Thai Baht.
It is good to compare the price of something like a bottle of water so the audience can understand the value of the money.
When showing images of the currency show both sides of coins and notes.Seasons.

Balance of trade is also good.
Make a statement say if the GDP is strong or weak.
GDP can also be linked to Quality of Life and CorruptionInteresting facts.
Try to add an interesting fact on each slide especially if you have data or percentages to show.
Speak about the interesting fact rather than reading the data from the slide.
With a slide of interesting facts about a country, the facts must be accompanied with images and the information is to be presented to the audience with the use of animations.Your name (Author Presenter). (Must Have)
Your full name in English and your nickname. You can also add your student number and class..

Animations.
Your StoryAnimations smooth movements.
All animations must be smooth so the eyes continue to follow the movement.
Jerky movements stop the flow of your story and weaken your story.Making your words stronger.
Smooth animations should be timed with your speaking
Animations should make what you are saying more important.
Animations should be used to make your story appear from your slide in proper order.Your Story
Only things that part of your story should be on a slide
Butterflies flying must not be on your slide unless they are part of your story.
Gif animations must be part of your story
Gif animations that are not part of your story are distracting and make your story weaker.Animations smooth movements.
All animations must be smooth so the eyes continue to follow the movement.
Jerky movements stop the flow of your story and weaken your story. An example of animation speed when presenting a topic.
This Flip animation can show both sides of coins, notes and pages in books. This action adds more depth to your story and helps keep the audiences attention.
.
Dynamic Action Fast Paced
An animation every 2 or 3 seconds will create an exciting fast paced presentation.
Animations every 4 seconds will be a little calmer and most likely good.
Over 4 sconds and the presentation will start to feel a little slower, Sometimes this is good and sometimes not as good.'sAn excellent example of animation speed when presenting a topic. Also take note of all the different objects and styles of animation.
.
.
-
Dynamic Slides.
Static images. Movement attracts. Hover image for eg.
They eyes have a tendency to follow any movement.
If something moves on a slide it will be the focus of attention.
For movement to maintain a feeling of action and focus it needs to move a little every 3 seconds or less.
Waiting longer than 3 seconds tends to allow the persons eyes to wander and a successful speaker needs to provide the action and focus.
If there is movement every 3 seconds or less the focus is shared between the speaker and the presentation slides.
If the movement is too often and too much the audiences attention quickly goes to boredom.A small movement can keep the audiences eyes on the image as long as it is only a little movement.

Themes, Graphic Designs.
Themes group information.
Themes help to group like pieces of information together.Themes can be used to create context for information
Using themes allows more ideas to be used to present information within context. For example, a theme for global time zones allows Thailand's time differences to be presented in context with other countries.Context helps the audience to understand quicker.
Preparing a persons mind for information helps the audience to understand why you are presenting something.
If you put their thinking in the correct place then they will understand your information very quickly.Presentation to the audience.
Theme and context allows for different presentation methods
Present the information with movement and graphic design methods to get the most emphasis..
.
Create a theme.
Present your information.
Use your imagination to present

Video's.
First Video
1st video no more than 30 seconds 1 second over and there will be a deducation in points.
More than 10 seconds over and there are no more marks for any animations.Speed and excitement
Use 1st video to build excitement start the video at normal speed and in several sections speed the video so it reaches a climax at about the 25 second point.Video fade in and out
Fade video from black to movie at the start and at the end fade from video to black. To do this, add a 'Fade to Black' transition at the start of your clip and again at the end.Second video or more video's if it is needed.
No more than 20 seconds. Penalties are the same as the 1st video.
Speed video up and cut parts that are not needed to get video clips under the 20 seconds.3-4 second clips
These very short moving pictures can be very good when used correctly.
More than 4 seconds they go from moving picture to video and will lose points.
2-3 seconds is a good average.Cooking Video's
You are not presenting a cooking show. Only show the parts or ingredients that are important for taste, appearance or culture..
.
.
.
-
Sound.
Fade in Fade out
Background music and video sounds must fade in and fade out
Background music must not make it hard to hear the speaker..

Stage presence.
Front and Center.
The most powerful postiion on a stage is front and center.
The term front and center has become a synonymous for 'come here'
All other positions on a stage have lesser importance.Posture and shoulders.
NEVER turn your shoulders away from the audience.
The more your shoulders turn from the audience the less important you become.
A gesture to your screen must be done without turning your shoulders.
In many cultures turning your shoulder towards someone is rude.
Check the shoulders are facing the audience and the hands are open to the audience.
Eye Contact.
Look briefly into the eyes of all your audience so everyone thinks you are talking to them.
This will make your audience more attentive and believe in what you are saying.
Showing you are not scared to look someone in the eyes shows a strong sense of character and in many cultures they will believe you are a strong good person.
Don't look to strongly or intensly as this can be a challenge.Posturing. Walk towards groups in the audience.
Move about the stage naturally to talk to your audience from different angles.
Moving towards different groups as you are talking makes what you are saying a little more personal.
Peoples eyes follow movement, if you move at a natural pace the audience will continue to pay attention to what you are saying.
Staying still is boring for the audience but don't run around or jump suddenly, make your movements natural and with purpose. You have won the lottery and you are talking about your dream holiday. Gesture with your arms and body never turn your back to the audience. Practice gesturing to your slide while keeping your shoulder facing the audience.
.
.
.
.
.
-
Voice Projection.
Speak strongly/firmly and with confidence.
Speaking strongly is not yelling.
Speak to the back of the room.
Take full breaths and speak from your diaphragm.
Speaking to the back of the room makes your voice steady
If you speak with a strong steady voice people will think you are intelligent and know the topic you are talking about.
A strong steady voice makes people believe in you.Speaking confidently is important but when it is you doing the listening, concentrate on actual facts that can be verified.
Not listening carefully, to verifiable facts is how scammers, con-artists and criminals succeed in robbing people, as they also use a confident firm voice..

Transitions
Transition.
This is the movement from one slide to the next.
Fade to black on a transition is better than fading to white.
White can be hard on the eyes
Keep the animation working on transistions as stopping on a blank screen is normally not good.
Smooth transitions are much better than jerky or jumpy actions. ..
Transitions and animations
A transition is to make your story flow.
An animation is to make your words stronger and help you tell a story.Transition tips.
Allways make the transition automatic so it moves to the next slide giving something for the audience to see.
Time the transition so it is smooth; not sudden or very slow.
Do not have a pure white transition after a black slide it is very hard on the viewers eyes. Rather use a soft colour or a grey.
Fading to black can give a feeling of passing time if you allow an extra second on the transition compared to other transitions in your presentation.Magic Move
Magic move is an excellent transition. It can be done in Powerpoint but is not quite as easy.
For magic move to work 2 slides must have the same objects.
The objects can be in different places, different sizes or rotations.
Magic move then moves the objects through the transition..
.
-
Graphic Designs.
Layers of information.
Large size to smaller size.
This is the same as most important to least important.
Large size should be used once on the most important information of the slide; generally the title.
All other information should be smaller.
ALL INFORMATION must be readable from a distance (back of hall)Giving importance to parts of information.
Underline or adding a box to some information will give it more importance.
Stronger colours bold and different fonts also help give importance to information. Too much colour is only confusing and makes text hard to read. All fonts must be readable otherwise they are not important.Too much colour is hard to read.Too much colour is hard to read.Graphic Design Horizontal Lines.
What is in your script? are you talking about peaceful scenes.
A feeling of horizontal lines is peaceful.Graphic Design Vertical Lines.
If you are talking about action and movement.
A feeling of vertical lines in your graphics will add strength to your words giving a feeling of movement/action.Graphic Design Diagonal Lines.
If you want your audience to feel excited use images and graphics that create diagonal lines.
Diagonal lines give a dynamic and excited feeling.
One of the reason collages of angled pictures look good is because of the diagonal lines the edges of pictures create..
.

.
-
Exporting Mac Fonts
Fonts.
If you use special fonts in your presentation they will only be on your computer.
Swapping your keynote presentation to another computer means the new computer must have your fonts.
If you do not add your fonts to the new computer your presentation could be changed a lot.
The images below will help you swap your fonts onto another computer..

The fonts are creative and easy-to-read, size varies appropriately for headings and text. Use of italics, bold, and indentations enhances readability.
Sometimes the fonts are easy-to-read, but in a few places the use of fonts, italics, bold, distracts and does not enhance readability
Overall readability is difficult with too many different fonts, overuse of bold or lack of appropriate indentations of text.
The text is extremely difficult to read with small point size of fonts, poor use of headings, subheadings, indentations, or bold formatting.

Teaching Report:
• Computing is used to create an holistic approach to learning by working with Social studies, Public speaking and Science.
• To support subjects specific software is taught so students can complete high quality presentations.
• The emphasis is on using the computer as a tool for creating researching and expressing learning from many different areas. The goal is for the students to be able to take control of their learning, understand what is good research and express this in acceptable high quality formats.
• 'Student centered classrooms' that are also a 'flipped classroom' are the preferred methods of delivery. The website for the flipped classroom is brettwilkin.com.The flipped classroom frees the teacher to work with the students more often.
• Students use the website to review what is taught in class and review for exams. The site logs show students often want to work late at night to finish quizzes and submit work.
• Being an ESL classroom all new words on the web site are linked to a Thai dictionary. The site dictionary gives the meanings of the words in the context of how they are being used on the site.
• Small quizzes to support learning and cater to the curriculum requirements are done on line via the students personal accounts. This means most of the feedback is instant.
• A 'Constructionist' approach based on project / activities outcomes means the website is updated regularly to accommodate changing social attitudes, student brain dominances and learning styles. There is a strong emphasis on creative thinking, research skill and looking for answers rather than being spoon fed.
• As this is an ESL classroom students can review any information they do not understand. It is noted according to the website logs students often log on to do quizzes late at night when they are of the feeling to work.
Teacher Review.
Review 2015
Unit went well but it was noted the animations to exemplify the story were not used efficiently. Students completed all work but more quizzes needed and the unit needs to be matched more with the requirements of M2 students so the learning is easier to scaffold for going into M2.
Review 2016
This year the emphasis was changed to one of create a story and animate your story. This has been a more successful approach as the presentations are starting to become easier to watch with a smoother transfer of information to the audience. The students need to be reminded regularly about completing online quizzes. This semester has seen better quality presentations and animations of stories but students need to be going back to the website more to see what has been taught. Being an ESL environment the students don't always have a complete understanding of what is needed and this is all on the website and quizzes for them to explore.
Some more fine tuning needed with some more quizzes in this unit but basically a successful semester with all the students passing at the required rate of 75%.
In preparation for 2017 this unit web page has been revamped to be more interactive (besides compulsory quizzes) instead of just a resource. As for the dynamic animations and colours the jury is still out until I can question the students. I am very conscious of being an old fogy and what I have done must appeal to the age group intended.
The underpinning philosophy is to create the animations to give ideas but not something to copy. The concepts will be talked about in class and the students can use the principles of programmed learning to follow up ideas on the web. The chunks of information and learning should be small and continuous with no expectation that the student will know; more that they will continue to learn almost by accident through revisiting ideas in sequential order as they use the ideas and concepts discussed. This philosophy has been working exceptionally well and this is an effort to make it better.
